To increase visibility of Japan in India, and thereby enhance mutual understanding between India and Japan by showcasing art and culture and exchange knowledge and ideas.
To deepen understanding on Japan amongst Indians
The India-Japan Friendship Forum would partner with several organisations both in India and Japan to organise various activities to foster and facilitate exchange of people and ideas between the two countries.
The 21st century has witnessed the historic advancement of India Japan relations to the level of Special Strategic and Global Partnership. More recently, the two leading Asian democracies have come together with a mandate from the dynamic Prime Ministers of both countries-Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe to enhancing ties through economic cooperation and greater people to people contacts.
While strengthening security and political relations and economic engagement forms the centre stage of our relationship with Japan at current times, there is a clear realisation that increased “people to people exchanges” through tourism, culture and sports-related activities are an equally significant cornerstone of this evolving partnership.
